Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer, and I have the opportunity to write articles every Friday solely about fashion. For a sneak preview for the upcoming weeks, the articles will range from a variety of fashion tips, but will mainly focus on appreciating the Island’s talented designers.
Fashion for a Rainy Day:
Unfortunately, we’ve seen more rain than we have sun nowadays which means we can’t rock our cute shorts! Instead, we’ve been wearing long sleeves and pants hoping not to get drenched when we’re outside. But just because it’s pouring and the sky is grey, doesn’t mean you can’t dress fashionably! If you follow these simple tips next time it starts to rain, you’ll be prepared and look great!

On a rainy day, I love to use an umbrella, wear bright colors and my rain boots.
Rubber boots come in so many different colours and designs, so while it’s best to say good bye to your favorite pair of heels, you can still express your personal style and model your rain gear instead.
I choose to wear bright colours in dreary weather to uplift my spirit. Dark skies and rainy weather can make you feel down - so if you’re feeling glum, throw on some plum! Just be careful not to wear suede as it can become easily ruined and damaged when water is in contact with the material.
Kate Middleton, currently one of the biggest fashion icons, wore a Prince Edward Island sweater during her recent visit to the Island. These photos were taken on a damp day at Dalvay by the Sea, PEI. As you can see, Kate is using a clear, domed umbrella to keep herself dry, and still looks super fashionable.

I really love how Will & Kate’s umbrellas color contrast with one another - William’s black umbrella is very dominant and stands out, while Kate’s clear umbrella is very neutral.
And while it rained for most of the event at Dalvay, the royal couple, because of their rain gear, didn’t stop smiling and taking the time to shake hands with their fans. So next time it’s a grey day, grab your boots, cute umbrella, and brightest, happiest clothes, and you’ll be royally set for whatever drops may drizzle on your path!
